What are fad diets?

Chances are you can name a few fad diets right off the top of your head. Some of the more popular are the Atkins, Zone and South Beach, but there are many more.

Some people are still searching for the "best diet drug", latest surgery, or even clinging to the myth that dairy will produce magical results.

If all of these fads aren't bad enough, some people are even holding to more traditional methods, you know, the ones that promote drastically cutting calorie intake. Actually, starvation would be more accurate.

These diets are just like the latest fashion craze... they come and go. However, unlike the latest hot pair of jeans, many of these weight loss methods can be dangerous.

Weight loss methods that promote drastically cutting carbohydrates and eating more animal proteins have been the latest craze. You have heard of people losing weight by restricting carbs? Perhaps you even know somebody who has?
